Burns Nicht Dinner and Dance Review

Burns Night 2018

Nearly 100 guests attended the Northampton Town & County Scottish Association’s Burns Nicht celebrations on Saturday 27th January 2018 at Great Houghton Hall.

The evening was ably hosted by the Secretary of our Association, Jeremy McDonald who was piped into the hall by Alan McIlravie, accompanied by invited guests, Mary Roach, who recited The Address to The Haggis, Nancy Barr, who toasted The Immortal Memory of Robert Burns, Dominic Carlisle who gave The Toast to The Lassies, and the Burns Recitation Schools Competition Winners 2017, Chloe Walding and James Russell.

James Russell started our evening by splendidly reciting To a Mouse, followed by Chloe Walding’s dramatic recitation of Address to the Toothache.
The ensuing Bill of Fare, the Address from Mary Roach (following on from her rehearsal live on Radio Northampton) and Toasts were exceptional, particularly the innovative presentation of The Immortal Memory by Nancy Barr encompassing projected images and community singing of Burns songs, then the lively and easy delivery from Dominic Carlisle. An evening of Bon Accord was
enjoyed by all guests, not forgetting dancing to Peter Scatterty.

Take a look at some of the photos from the event below. See you all again next year.
